Political Time
Okay, so we know I try to keep it lighthearted on this here blog, but with all the hullabaloo about Proposition 8 in California, I thought I would offer a national alternative that I believe would appeal to at least 51% of the country’s population.
1. The government shall make no law regarding the establishment of a religious marriage between two individuals. Such classifications will be left to their respective organizations of faith.(aka, let the churches decide what marriage is, and take it out of our legal system all together)
2. Citizens hereby can be joined in a legal union, regardless of gender, race, etc etc. This will provide tax breaks and visitations rights to the two partners of the household. (the monetary and civil rights are handled equally for straight and gay couples, but is a union for both, since marriage is handled by the church and not the state.)
Well?
